Abstract

This exhibition, based on the story of the Tower of Babel in the Bible, not only reviews the concept of “Babel” which has ever been discussed (an issue derived from a language barrier) but also exhibits some works that have the power to appeal to human instinct from different directions creating a space of art where the conventional concept is contained and even if the concept is denied, the inconsistency can coexist.

Concept

Virtual world represented by the Internet is being created at full speed like the Tower of Babel. In the tower of information, a very important thing is stored. The tower is gaining power to make us happy, we enter a virtual world which has more importance than reality.

Theme

The information tools are extending parts of human limb, but the human brain which should essentially be a factory; works only as a warehouse. Considering this situation in the light of the lesson of Babel, powers to search for life “Idea, Analysis and Emotion”, are being lost presently. Thus, art also loses its power and at present, art is being designed (instead of being created). In other words, it also affects securing identity, an essence of individual, without being realized by ourselves. Searching for beauty is an eternal clear proposition of the works, questioning human essence which is being simplified deep in the mind, obtaining not only one answer but several answers, and describing the proper essence that is approved even if it is inconsistent. The works will guide us back from the world with emotionless information to a world filled with peaceful information. Successful
